Corn oil or maize oil is extracted from the germ of corn.

Its main use is in cooking as a frying oil, but also a key ingredient in some margarines.

Corn oil is generally less expensive than most other types of vegetable oils.

In such applications, it can be used as a thickening agent and as a stabilizer. It is also a popular food component with health benefits, as it can supplement water-soluble dietary fiber, preventing constipation and fat deposition.
